Bridie Atkins - Art

Using the paints and papers inherited from my grandmother, I took up watercolours during the second covid lockdown and as such am mainly self taught although I have attended short courses with some talented members of New Zealand’s art community.

 

I find myself drawn to painting wildlife, particularly birds, trying to capture the personality of each of my subjects.  Living in Karori I am fortunate enough to have many feathered subjects visit our property providing lots of inspiration.

 

While I work mostly in watercolours, I’ve recently taken up oils, loving the vibrant colours and ease at which I can work with texture.
